I replaced a 1 year old after market locking fuel cap with this. I had an issue with some people trying to steal my gas so I replaced my original fuel cap with an aftermarket after being assured by the parts store it would work just as the original did; the would be thief didn't get any gas as newer cars have some sort of screen to prevent siphon hoses from entering the fuel tank but still I thought a locking cap deterrent would be a good idea.
Almost immediately I was having my check engine light come on as the aftermarket cap kept not sealing the fuel tank properly. I moved recently to a better neighborhood and felt I didn't need the locking gas cap so I went back to the original Motorcraft fuel cap the vehicle was originally equipped with.
To anyone looking for a locking cap... Motorcraft does sell them for about $30 or so here on Amazon; I recommend these over the $15 aftermarket locking fuel caps. Its worth the extra money to ensure your vehicle 's fuel system continues to operate properly.
