I had no problem replacing my broken hinge with this new one. I had some trouble with the plastic 'pins' that are to be driven into the expanding anchors in the body of the hinge, but that was primarily due to my inexperience. I managed to drive two pins into the body of the car, so I used cut off WD40 straws from the sprayer. In the past few weeks, it still seems secure
