Product Description
Stant locking gas caps are OEM quality both in construction and materials as well as deterrent to fuel theft and vandalism. A gas/fuel cap performs three very important functions; safety of the vehicle's occupants, fuel economy and reduce emissions. Safety: Without a fuel cap, gasoline vapors will be present around your car at all times. Those vapors can be ignited by a random spark or flame and are very dangerous if you are involved in an accident or rollover. Fuel Economy: According to Sun Oil Company research, a vehicle with a missing or inoperative fuel cap will allow 176 pounds (22 gallons) of gasoline to evaporate over the period of one year. Emissions: Gasoline vapors emit hydrocarbons which dissolve the earth's ozone layer and cause smog.

I'll tell you secret about their LACKING longevity..
By HR Manager
I dont know if its a conspiracy or not, but these caps seem to seperate from their internals after about 35-50 fill ups or LESS depending on hard you torque the cap when closing it. Once it's open, the only thing to keep it from spinning in its "locked" position are wedge brackets on the inside. Once these start to wear down, you're either stuck with a gas cap that won't lock, OR even worse ---won't open (which happened in my case). The only thing that surprised me more at that point was that I was able to just pull the locking cylinder out with the top of this cap coming of with it. What's the point if it's only keeping me out. Huge inconvenince in th long run! Bring a screwdriver with you just in case if you DO happen to purchase one these cheaply made caps. I would suddest you go with the Motorad or the CST instead!

fits Honda Fit Sport 2009
By drpsp
Pry up the tether of the unlocking factory cap from the gas cap's door, leaving it fastened to the ring around the cap, and stow them away together for whatever future use. Insert this Stant 10507 locking cap in its place. May need to turn it a few times to get the feel--and especially to figure out the combination between how to screw the cap and how to turn the key--but it fits the 2009 Honda Fit Sport just fine. Of course, you'll have to handle the cap as you would any other on any other car that has no tether, being sure to screw in the cap again, and lock it, once you've gassed up the car.

Would have been nicer if it lasted longer
By Rex W. Howen
Bought and installed in May '11, stopped working Jan '12. The locking mechanism no longer locks. I now get a"check fuel cap" warning indicator. Oh well.
