This allows an escape path for pressure in the event of an impact situation where the fuel tank has collapsed.Permits pressure to escape if the vapor management system malfunctions.OE Vacuum relief prevents fuel vapors from exiting the fuel system via the fill tube under normal operations. This allows an alternative path for air to flow into the tank if there is an obstruction in the vapor recovery or vapor management systems. A "Lost Motion" feature permits the cap handle some freedom to turn while maintaining a seal, which could aid in the prevention of fuel tank leakage during a crash or impact. A "Breakaway Groove" allows the cap to remain sea led and prevent fuel leakage during a crash or impact, even if some of the cap has broken away. A "Torque Override" feature aids in the proper installation of the fuel cap. It produces an audible click as the o-ring that seals the cap is properly compressed.

Not smooth

This cap fits my 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor, but my issue is with the keys. It's hard to lock it, you have to push and then pull really hard. It should be smoother.

The cap works as advertised but the big downfall is the piece that covers the area where your key goes tends to stick making putting the key in difficult at times. Although not a huge inconvenience it can be when it's 5 degrees outside and the key wont work.

like it a lot

my last locking gas cap was hard to remove because it always cross threaded this one works properly. plus the last one had to use.the key to lock. this one usea the key to unlock and it can be installed without the key in it which i like better. the last cap i had, the check engine light would come on after a fill up. so far, the engine. light has stayed off.
